Visa Requirements for Tourists

The following information on entry and exit requirements has been confirmed with the Oman authorities. However, these requirements are subject to change at any time. It is the traveler’s responsibility to check with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman and its consulates for up-to-date information.

A valid Canadian passport is required for Canadians intending to visit Oman. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected departure from Oman. Whatever the purpose of their stay, Canadians must be in possession of a visa obtained at the nearest embassy or consulate of Oman, prior to departure.

Health Requirements for Tourists

Health requirements can change at any time The Public Health Agency of Canada strongly recommends that your travel plans include contacting a travel medicine clinic or physician six to eight weeks before departure. Based on your individual risk assessment, a health care professional can determine your need for immunizations and/or preventive medication and advise you on precautions to avoid disease. Travelers are reminded to ensure that their routine (childhood)immunizations (e.g., tetanus, diphtheria, polio, and measles) are up to date. 

Travellers must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate if they are entering Oman from an infected area.

The main health hazard for travellers is the risk of dehydration because of the very high temperatures during the summer months. Preventive action includes ensuring protection from the sun and drinking plenty of water.
