Probably one of the most amazing archaeological sites in the Middle East is Petra, the ‘Rose City’, and on this 8-day tour through the Kingdom of Jordan, you will enjoy 2 full days exploring in-depth this ancient city, which lies hidden deep within its protective canyons.  Other equally historic sites are also part of your journey such as the Graeco-Roman city of Jerash, considered one of the best-preserved examples of its time.  See lovely mosaic work in the Byzantium city of Madaba. Re-live a biblical moment, standing where Moses stood atop Mt. Nebo and wander through the great battlements of a Crusader fort at Kerak.  Even go back in time before the Neolithic Age at Beida, one of the oldest habitations in the Middle East where pre-Neolithic pottery has been found.

The scenery in Jordan is breathtaking and you’ll enjoy its great diversity of landscapes as you admire the panoramic views from the village of Ajlun and from tranquil Wadi Mujib.  There’s also an opportunity to float in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the surface of the earth, take a jeep tour round the rocks and sandstone cliffs of Wadi Rum as well as look for the rare and now protected Ibex in the Dana Nature Reserve where many other animals that live in Jordan’s stunning countryside of mountains and deserts can also be seen.

Finally, to understand the true meaning of Arab hospitality, enjoy a night under the stars as you are treated to a traditional Bedouin dinner as you camp in the desert.

Visit Ajlun for its fortress and magnificent view of the Jordan Valley. Then tour Jerash, a Greco-Roman city. Later swim in the salty Dead Sea.

Travel to Wadi Al Mujib, then visit Crusader castle at Kerak and the Dana Nature Reserve. Arrive in Petra.

At Beida, tour ‘Little Petra’ before arriving at Wadi Rum to take a jeep tour at sunset through the desert, and to drink tea with the Bedouins. Tonight, a traditional Bedouin dinner under the stars

Visit Madaba “The Mosaic City”, then tour the Monastery at Mt Nebo, possibly Moses’ burial place. Return to Amman.
