Set off for a visit to the Negev Desert city of Beersheba via Ashdod and Ashkelon. Then continue to Masada for a cable car ride up to the ancient fortress. Visit the excavations, Herod’s Palaces, and the synagogue. Afterwards stop at the Dead Sea and time permitting, enjoy floating in its saline waters. Arrive in Jerusalem late in the day.

Your tour starts with incredible views of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus. Then visit the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Agony, the Israel Museum, the beautifully renovated model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem, the Holocaust Memorial of Yad Vashem, the Hadassah Medical Center to see Marc Chagall’s stained glass windows and finally John the Baptist’s birthplace

This morning enter the old, walled city, walking through the Jewish Quarter to the Western Wall, along the Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the Cross, to arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. At Mount Zion visit King David’s tomb, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey. In Bethlehem* visit Christ’s birthplace, the Church of Nativity and Rachel’s Tomb.

This morning drive to Jericho* before reaching Beit Shean via the Jordan Valley. Here see the excavations of a once prosperous Roman city. Afterwards visit Tiberias, the old center of Jewish learning then go on to Capernaum on the shores of the Sea of Galilee to tour the remains of an ancient synagogue. Spend the next 2 nights at a Kibbutz Hotel.

Drive up the Golan Heights and visit the former Syrian fortifications and some Druze villages. Passing the source of the Jordan River, visit a synagogue and an artists’ colony in Safed, the birthplace of Kabala mysticism before touring the Christian Holy sites in Nazareth.

This morning drive to Acre to see the medieval Crusader stronghold and military fortifications. Next arrive in Haifa to tour this lovely city. Then drive along the coast to Caesarea and tour its excavations including the Roman Theatre and the Crusader fortress. From Tel Aviv, take a short flight to Eilat (included in cost) for a 2-night stay at this Red Sea resort town. Upon arrival take a taxi from the airport to the hotel (transfer not included).

Today’s trip into Jordan goes to Petra, the Rose City. Entering Petra via the Siq, a narrow passageway through the mountains, reach the magnificent Treasury, a massive edifice hewn from the cliff face. Walk Petra’s streets with its many tombs and monuments including the 3,000 seat Amphitheatre. After lunch, visit Moses Spring and Wadi Moussa, the new town of Petra. On the way back to Eilat, stop for a short tour of the Jordanian seaport of Aqaba.
