OverviewJerusalem is Israel’s historic, religious and emotional heart, and during this 10-day tour through the country, you will be given an in-depth tour of both the old and the new sectors of the city; from the Wailing Wall to the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea Scrolls are housed to the miniature model of Jerusalem as it was during the second temple period, are just a few of its many highlights. But before concentrating on Jerusalem, you’ll see so many other aspects of the Israel’s past. At Caesarea, the capital city of Judea in Roman times, see the excavations that have yielded centuries’ old treasures, including a Crusader City, the Roman Port, an Aqueduct and Amphitheatre. In beautiful Haifa visit the Baha’i Shrine with its exquisite golden domes.
Moving inland, the biblical past unfolds as you stand on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Tour Nazareth’s s Church of the Annunciation where many Christians believe the Virgin Mary met the Archangel Gabriel. Float in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, hear at the dramatic story of Masada where, in 73 AD, the Zealots fought their final battle against the Romans before committing mass suicide, and, experience the communal life while spending the night on a Kibbutz. With free time built in to explore both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on your own, you
will come away with a collection of memories of this remarkable part of the Middle East.
