There really is no other country quite like Turkey when it comes to a combination of incredible and varied scenery and layer upon layer of history.  To spend time exploring this fascinating country is to peel back the past, where everyone seems to have passed through leaving an impression that defines Turkey today.  But this shouldn’t come as a surprise given the geography of Turkey, straddling the divide between the Middle East and Europe.  Start your journey of discovery with touring some of the finest Greek and Roman ruins that dot the landscape from the Aegean to the Mediterranean.  Then walk in the footsteps of the Virgin Mary and St. Paul who are said to have made their way along the Turkish coast after the death of Christ.  Following the great Byzantium period, when Constantinople, today known as Istanbul, became one of the world’s most exotic and treasure-filled cities, the Seljuk tribes from central Asia left their mark, converting to Islam and defining a nation that in later centuries grew into the great Ottoman Empire.  So much history!  So much to see!
