This 11-day, circular tour through Turkey is filled not only with wonderful scenery but with many amazing historical antiquities. Begin this tour in fabulous and exotic Istanbul where you will discover the rich palaces of the Ottoman Empire, the hushed beautiful of its huge mosques and the excitement of its markets and the Grand Bazaar. There are also optional excursions including a cruise on the Bosphorus. Next stop is Ankara, Turkey’s modern capital, to see its museums before heading into the heart of the country - Cappadocia. This is a land of wind-carved, sandstone caves where early Christians hid from the Seljuk Turks and left behind a rich legacy of frescos. Then it’s on to Pamukkale, driving through stunning countryside to reach this extraordinary limestone mountain with its cascading hot springs where the Romans build an early spa. Arriving next on the Aegean coast in the resort town of Kusadasi, you will marvel at the fabulous Roman ruins at Ephesus before travelling up the coast stopping at other ruin sites at Pergamum and Troy. After crossing the Dardanelles at Canakkale to see the infamous WWI battlefields of Gallipoli, arrive back in Istanbul to end this amazing journey.
