OverviewYour adventure begins with the departure from Rovos Rail’s gracious station in Capital Park Pretoria. Depart in the morning and slowly meander westwards through Mafikeng into Botswana and then north towards Mahalapye, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn just after Gaborone. Arrive at Plumtree in the late afternoon for border formalities with Zimbabwe and continue in a north-westerly direction passing Bulawayo heading towards Thompson’s Junction and Hwange Game Reserve. Journeys end is the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.
Enjoy the luxurious compartments, fine cuisine and exceptional wines offered by Rovos Rail as you spend 2 nights travelling from Pretoria to Victoria Falls. Please note that depending upon railways capacity this journey could be routed northwards through Beitbridge and Zimbabwe

Day 1
Pretoria
Set off from Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative and diplomatic capital this morning and spend the day relaxing as the train travels north through the open country of the Highveld, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn en route. Lunch is served enroute to Zeerust and dinner as the trains heads towards Mafikeng.

En route
The day is spent travelling northwest at a leisurely pace through Zimbabwe with its lovely flat-topped acacia trees so typical of the African countryside and the striking Baobab forests. Border formalities at Plumtree followed by dinner on board.

Day 3
Victoria Falls
Breakfast and lunch in the dining cars as the train meanders towards the Falls. Arrival at Victoria Falls in the evening around 5 p.m.

The rebuilt sleeper coaches contain the most spacious train suites in the world, offering every modern convenience and comfort. The epitome of luxury, with handsome wood paneling and period Edwardian features, the air-conditioned suites accommodate two people offering the option of twin or spacious double beds. All are equipped with a writing surface and, for valuables, a personal safe. There is also a bar fridge filled with beverages of the passengers’ choice and room service is available 24 hours a day. In the en suite bathrooms original fittings combine with the modern technology of hot showers, hair dryers and shaver plugs.
The Pullman suite is +/-7 square meters (+/-76 sq ft) in size and while it includes the identical bathroom to that of the deluxe suites, the bedroom is smaller with a one up one down bunk for twin requirements or a double bed for couples. During the day this can be converted into a comfortable couch.

The Deluxe suites (+/-11 sq metres/+/-118 sq feet) and accommodates two passengers in either twin or double beds and have a lounge area and en-suite bathroom with shower.

In the en suite bathrooms original fittings combine with the modern technology of hot showers, hair dryers and shaver plugs.
The Royal Suites, each of which take up half a carriage, are spacious and elegant, measuring +/-16 sq metres in size (+/-172 sq ft). Each has its own private lounge area and full bathroom with Victorian bath and separate shower.
