OverviewLittle over half a century ago, Hammamet was just a small fishing village surrounded by 15th Century walls and full of narrow, winding streets. Today, while still retaining its Tunisian charm and ambiance, it is an internationally popular Mediterranean resort filled with a full range of hotels that line its attractive beaches. Its mild climate, scented with flowering almond, orange and lemon trees is conducive to the holiday spirit. Just 40 miles south of Tunisia’s capital, Tunis, Hammamet is within easy reach of the ruins of Carthage and other interesting Greco/Roman antiquities. It is also host every summer to an international music and dance festival. Whether you fill your days with a multitude of water sports, or sightseeing or just relaxing on the beach, a Tunisian holiday will be a rewarding experience.
