+ - Day 1 Pretoria Drakensberg Escarpment
Arrival

Leave Pretoria this morning, departing from Rovos Rail’s private station, travelling east through the rolling open countryside towards Waterval Boven.  Here the train descends dramatically 8.7 miles down the Drakensberg escarpment through a series of switchbacks and tunnels.

+ - Day 2 Nambiti Game Reserve

An early morning wake-up call and set off on a game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve.  Set in 20,000 acres of malaria-free bushveld in Kwa Zulu Natal, the reserve has an incredible biodiversity. Return for a hearty brunch on board as the train travels towards Estcourt.  During the afternoon, enjoy the option of a game drive in Spionkop Game Reserve or embark on a Spionkop battlefield tour accompanied by a historian. Later ‘Sundowners’ overlooking the dam and a traditional braii dinner at Spionkop Lodge.

+ - Day 3 Zululand Durban

Breakfast is served as the train descends the escarpment en route to Lion River Station.  Here, you will visit the Ardmore Ceramics Gallery including a dressage display.  At noon the train departs for Pietermartizburg.  Spend the afternoon travelling through Zululand and the beautiful Valley of A Thousand Hills.  Arrive in the early evening in Durban and the termination of the rail journey.
