This morning board the Rovos Rail train and depart Cape Town on a journey to Pretoria. Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery as you pass through South Africa’s premier wine-growing region and over the Hex River Pass via a series of dramatic tunnels. Late in the afternoon there will be a stop at Matjiesfontein where there will be time of a stroll through this quaint and historic village.

Day 2
Kimberley
Spend a relaxing morning travelling across the Great Karoo before arriving in Kimberley just after lunch. On arrival, you will disembark to be taken on a tour of the town and to see the ‘Big Hole’, where diamonds were first discovered in 1871. You will also visit the fascinating Mine Museum, and time and weather permitting take a ride through the town on an historic tram. Re-board the train in the afternoon. Just a few minutes beyond the town, keep an eye out for a small lake where you may see upwards of 23,000 flamingos!
The balance of the day is spent traveling through the open plains of the Orange Free State.

Pretoria
This morning is the final leg of this memorable journey, passing through Krugersdorp, Johannesburg and Germiston. Arrive at noon in Pretoria and disembark.
