OverviewOne of the best ways to experience the ‘real’ Africa is to sleep under canvas in wilderness areas where the stars of the Southern Constellations blaze in the night sky, and this 14-day Botswana safari is tailor made to make just such an experience a reality. Botswana offers many unique highlights and this camping adventure has them all.
Start with a trip through the Kalahari Desert, home to the nomadic San or Bushmen. Meeting these fabled people is one of the highlights of your journey when you take a guided walk with them to see how they use their environment to survive.
In the Moremi Game Reserve, not only will you have exciting game drives every day through the animal-rich Okavango Delta and Khwai sections of the reserve but you’ll spend time in a mokoro, following waterways carved through the reeds by hippos in a bird-filled paradise. Then see one of Africa’s greatest wonders, Victoria Falls. Experience first-hand the awesome power of ‘Mosi Oa Tuyna’ - the ‘Smoke That Thunders, as the waters of the Zambezi River drop 900 feet over the Falls. Here there’ll be lots of time for exciting optional activities. Next it’s off to Chobe National Park, famous for its scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wildlife and birdlife as well as its large herds of elephants. While taking a sunset cruise on the Chobe River watch huge herds of elephants come down to drink. Finally cross the Limpopo River into South Africa where this memorable adventure ends in Johannesburg.
