A Taste of the Cape – 6 days, 5 nights

If you don’t want to miss some of the highlights of the beautiful Cape Province, here is an ideal 6-day tour which gives you a delightful taste of some of South Africa’s favourite places for visitors.  First and foremost, no journey through the Cape is complete without time spent in the Cape Winelands where some of the country’s best vintage wines will be tasted.  Every valley in this region is dotted with historic and pretty towns as you will discover when travelling through Stellenbosch, Worcester and Montagu.  In Outdtshoorn, where the world once got all of its ostrich feathers, visit a fascinating ostrich farm as well as see the awesome Cango Caves, a labyrinth of multi-coloured caverns.

Route Details

Montagu (1) Oudtshoorn (1) Knysna(2) Hermanus (1)

Then it’s on to the Garden Route, a much beloved coastal road that winds its way beside the Indian Ocean.  In Knysna, famous for its arts and crafts, take a relaxing cruise across the Lagoon and visit the Heads for wonderful views of the surrounding coast.  Continue along the coast to see the stunning Tsitsikamma Forest at the mouth of Storms River and then return back towards Cape Town with another relaxing night in Knysna.  The final stop along this journey is in the lovely resort town of Hermanus.  It is here, between August and November that the Southern Right Whales come close in to shore to have their calves, and there is nowhere else in the world where you can whale watch like this from on shore.  In fact, there is nowhere else in the world quite like the glorious Cape Province of South Africa.
