Follow in the footsteps of Dian Fossy, the world-renowned Gorilla expert as you trek into the hills of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.  Be amongst the few people today to have the opportunity to see the magnificent Mountain Gorilla in its natural habitat.  One of the highlights is a visit to the Karisoke Research Center on the slopes of Bisoke Volcano where scientists continue the work started by Dian Fossy.

+ - Day 1 Kigali › Kinigi
Arrival

On arrival we meet and transfer you to Volcanoes National Park. If time allows, tour Kigali and the Genocide Memorial. The evening is free.

+ - Day 2 Kinigi › Gorilla Trekking › Kinigi

After breakfast, depart for the Headquarters of the Park where your driver-guide will complete the formalities necessary for the trek. On entering the Park meet your ranger guide for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever! You are then driven to the slopes of one of the Virunga volcanoes to start your trek to look for gorillas.  After the trek, lunch will be served at Ruhengeri followed by an excursion to explore the beautiful Lake Bulera and Lake Ruhondo (time permitting). Return to Kinigi for an evening at leisure.

This morning we trek the slopes of the Bisoke Volcano and visit the former Karisoke Centre where Dian Fossey is buried. Later we return to Kigali.

LOCATION: The lodge is located 30 minutes from Kinigi Park Head Quarters, about 20km on the Ruhengeri-Chanika road from where 4 kilometres leads to the lodge set on a stunning hillside with breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes, Lake Ruhondo and Bulera.

The eco-lodge has 8 comfortable cottages with private verandas offering views over the lakes and volcanoes.  Each cottage has a private eco-bathroom.  The lodge has open fire places in the lounge and dining room.

LOCATION: Ideally located in central Kigali just 10 km from Kigali International Airport.

This 5 star hotel offers 148 rooms, 60 Standard Rooms, 37 Superior Rooms, 19 Deluxe Rooms, 18 Junior Suites, 7 Prime Rooms, 6 Executive Suites and one Presidential Suite.  All our newly-renovated rooms are presented in typically pan-African style with either twin or queen-sized beds.  Relaxed yet elegant, the hotel centres on the Executive Lounge and Bar, which opens onto a wide sundeck overlooking the newly refurbished swimming pool.
