Overview of Kenya

Kenya boasts 48 game parks, 9 marine national parks and reserves. Going on safari in Kenya is an experience of a lifetime. The Aberdares National Park is a fairytale place of dense forest, misty moorlands and alpine plants. Further north is Samburu National Park, made up of 3 separate reserves - Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba (where the third series of Survivor was filmed) - created by the Adamson family of “Born Free” fame.

The Maasai Mara is the most popular destination for game viewing, particularly during the time of migration (August to September), when game is seen in incredible multitudes. To the east is Amboseli National Park, the ideal location from which to view Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Mount Kenya is one of the world’s highest national parks famous for its variety of wildlife and for the climbs offered on its ice cliffs and rock faces. Tsavo is the country’s largest national park and one of the world’s biggest game sanctuaries, with over 60 major species of mammal.

Kenya and Tanzania are the best countries to witness the migration. This is a phenomenon that is beyond description - this mass exodus of 1.5 million wildebeest together with half a million zebra on a 500mile route is one of the greatest spectacles on earth.
