Visa information

The following information on entry requirements has been confirmed with the Egyptian authorities. However, these requirements are subject to change at any time. It is the traveler’s responsibility to check with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt and its consulates for up-to-date information.

A valid Canadian passport is required for Canadians intending to visit Egypt. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your expected departure from Egypt.

All Canadian Citizens must be in possession of a visa to enter Egypt. Entry Visa can be obtained at major port of entry (i.e., Egyptian airports, sea ports etc.). Cost is approximately US$15 per visa. It is recommended that travelers obtain their visa from an Egyptian embassy or consulate before arrival to avoid the possibility of being refused entry or experiencing lengthy delays upon arrival.

Health information

Health requirements can change at any time The Public Health Agency of Canada strongly recommends that your travel plans include contacting a travel medicine clinic or physician six to eight weeks before departure. Based on your individual risk assessment, a health care professional can determine your need for immunizations and/or preventive medication and advise you on precautions to avoid disease. Travelers are reminded to ensure that their routine (childhood) immunizations (e.g., tetanus, diphtheria, polio, and measles) are up to date. 

Travelers over the age of one are required to carry evidence of a yellow fever vaccination if arriving from infected areas.

Additional information

Canadians traveling in the Middle East are advised that their passports could come under increased scrutiny by immigration authorities, and the authenticity of their passports could be questioned due to incidents of possible misuse. Canadians experiencing problems are encouraged to contact the nearest Canadian government office or Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in Ottawa for advice and assistance.
