Experience the best that Egypt has to offer. Starting in Cairo discover its many attractions such as the Pyramids and the Sphinx and the world-famous Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Then it’s off to Luxor on the banks of the Nile to board a cruise boat that will take you up the river in style and comfort. Each stop has its own magic. Taking a cruise on the Nile is probably one of the most exciting ways of seeing what Egypt is all about. From the comfort of your cabin, you will see out of the big picture windows, towns and villages that haven’t changed much since Biblical times, slip by. Spend time on deck relaxing or taking a dip in the ship’s plunge pool, and mealtimes are a feast both for the eye and the palate.
First stop is at the great temple cities of Luxor and Karnak and then on to the valleys of the Kings and Queens on the West bank of the Nile where you can appreciate the enormity of the building skills of the Pharoahs. See how the dry atmosphere of the desert has preserved such beautiful temples over the eons as you stop at Edfu and Kom Ombo. Finally, arriving at Aswan, marvel at the engineering feats of the Aswan Dams, the delicate beauty of the Temple at Philae and take a thrilling sail on the Nile in a traditional felucca.
Before returning for a final day in Cairo, you may choose to take an optional extension to see the magnificent temples at Abu Simbel. Here engineers rescued these massive structures from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, to preserve for all time one of Egypt’s most cherished antiquities. This journey through Egypt is a never-to-be-forgotten experience from the present into the past!
